Kanab Elementary School Policies and Procedures
Daily Schedule
School begins each day at 8:15 A.M..
We dismiss at 2:25 P.M.
Immunizations
All students must be immunized to attend school. Waivers can be obtained from the Department of Health.
Medication
If your child requires prescription medication during school hours, you must have a “Permission to Administer Medication Form” on file in the school office. It must be signed by both you and your doctor.
We do not administer any over-the-counter medications .
Visitors
Our school is always open to parents, volunteers and other community members. For liability and safety reasons, we require all guests to check in at the office. We do not allow non-enrolled students to attend school.
Student Dress Policy
Clothes should be neat and clean.
Hats and caps may only be worn on the playground.
Hair should be of natural color and neatly groomed.
Shirts must cover the shoulder, under the arms, and the belly.
Shorts and skirts must be hemmed and mid-thigh or longer in length.
Clothing with print related to drugs, alcohol, tobacco or obscenities is not allowed.
Gang related clothing is not allowed.
Baggy pants must cover underwear and may require a belt.
Flip Flops and Shoes with roller skates are not allowed.
Body piercings, other than ears must not be visible.
School Rules

4. Respect all school policies.
Playground Safety
Baseball bats and hard balls are not permitted.
Throwing rocks and/or snowballs is not permitted. Tackle games are prohibited.
Climbing or hanging from trees is prohibited
No roller-blading, roller-skating, or skate-boarding on school grounds.
Cell Phones
Cell phones may not be used while school is in session. Phones may be confiscated,given to the principal, and only returned to a parent or guardian. Students mustsurrender cell phones at the beginning of class if required by the teacher. Teachers will provide a safe location for cell phones during class.
Student Drop-off and Pick-up
The zone designated for dropping students off for school and picking them up after schoolis located on Main Street beginning about mid-block and continues into the school’s north driveway. This area is designated with signs and yellow paint. If using the parking lot, please pull into a designated parking slot and escort students to and from the building.
Parent/Teacher Requests
Kanab Elementary School will no longer accept parent requests. If you have information about your child that you feel would help the school make an appropriate classroom placement, Please talk with the Principal.
Kane County School District Safe School Policy

A student will be suspended and possibly expelled from school if they choose to participate in an any of the following activities:
Willful disobedience, defiance of authority, or disruptive behavior
.Willful destruction of or the defacing of school property.
Behavior which poses an immediate and significant threat to the physical or emotional welfare ofother students, school personnel, or to the operation of the school.
Behavior which unreasonably disrupts or interferes with the educational process.
Possession of or under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or controlled substanceithin 1000 feet of school property or at any school sponsored event.
Possession of or the distribution of tobacco products within1000 feet of school propertyor any school sponsored event.
Possession of or the distribution of a drug, controlled substance, imitation controlledsubstance, or drug paraphernalia.
Commission of an act involving the use of force or the threatened use of force.
A student will be expelled from school for at least one year if he/she chooses to possess o rthreaten to use a real, look-alike, or pretend weapon, explosive, or noxious /flammable material within 1000 feet of school property or at any school sponsored event.
